You turn away from the rocks and try to paddle away, but the current is too strong. You are lobbed side to side, and rolled upside down and forwards. You lose sense of where the surface of the water is. You open your eyes underwater and glimpse the rope tangled on a rock in the river just meters away. It catches you in its hook. You struggle to free yourself from the rope’s grasp on your neck, but it is hopeless. When you have traveled down the rapids to straighten out the rope from the rock it is caught on, your neck breaks back; and your story has come to an end. In a matter of a few seconds, you fell from the cliff into the river and the rope has caught hold of you, snapping your neck. Your body lays in the violent, rocky river as the current rushes past you.
